Rant

Needless to say, what I am thinking isn't fit for human ears so just pray for me!

Remember the fiber I won so long ago?

I was looking back on my past posts and I saw the
fiber I had won at the Indiana spinning event! I am finally doing something with that fiber and spinning it the past few days. I finally finished last night and then started spinning some purple that will complement it (hopefully). The tag with the fiber says that it is 4.7 oz so I want to see if I can stretch that to a full 8 oz. I still don't know what I will do with it, but at least it is enough to actually amount to something. I am also working on a sweater. I am part of Christian Artisans on Yahoo and we are in the midst of a Project Along. I decided that I was going to take the wool that I had sitting in the attic gathering dust and it should be put to use. I didn't think I had enough of any of them to make a sweater so I plyed two different fibers together. It looks like I will have more than enough to knit the sweater and another 4-5 skeins left over. I don't like the dye job I did, I really am not a light blue person so once I finish the sweater, back to the dye pot for it! I am doing it the round from the top down because , honestly, that seems to be the most logical thing to do. I am almost finished with the first sleeve, just about 1 inch more then the ribbing.

I had a funny that I told to the Christian Artisans group. My son's girlfriend finds it fascinating that I knit. I made the comment that I didn't like the color of the sweater and was going to dye it darker. She suggested black and I said it was too difficult to do a good job. She asked why I didn't just buy black yarn to begin with. I told her I spun the yarn myself. She was speechless. That is difficult to do with teenagers, they always have the last word!

Long, long ago

Well, I better make good on this blogging because I spent enough time trying to get back into it. What a pain!

I guess I need some therapy and since I can't pay to talk to someone, I have to talk to myself (and whomever wanders by. I apologize now for any pain I may cause someone).

I am an unconventional person. I do not fit into any molds. I have a very bizarre set of interests that will probably come out eventually. Most people wouldn't think that the interests would really coincide, but they do in me!

I'm just a Slacker!

I looked at the last post and the date and I realized that though I may not be a slacker mom according to the quiz, I am a slacker when it comes to keeping up my blog! That has to change because if I don't keep up with this thing, I will forget about the things I have accomplished and be more likely to get discouraged. I have been busy in the past couple of months with my knitting and such. I started another shawl, I knitted a pair of Big Black Socks for SFS (socks for soldiers), I finished my pair of Lorna Laces socks, started a purple pair of socks for (hopefully) Mittens for Akkol, and a white pair of socks (to be dyed black) for SFS. I also was knitting on my Mystery Stole (2) but haven't gotten back to that in the past month. I need to get control of my projects so they don't overwhelm me, but having a pair or two of socks on the needle isn't bad. I can keep a pair in my bag to knit when I am waiting somewhere. The stole is another story altogether. I need peace and quiet to concentrate on that! Where am I going to find that in a house full of kids?

I looked at my camera images and I didn't have anything interesting to put up here so I thought i would end this post with a picture of a bag I found recently on Berroco website that I would like to knit someday. So hopefully I will see you again very soon, like this week!

Are you a slacker mom?

What a question! Noone wants to be known as a slacker mom, but we know they are out there. Well, I took a quiz today and guess what? I am NOT a slacker mom!

Your quiz results make you a Bring it on Mom

You my dear, are the envy of all your friends. You roll with the punches. Gum in you hair? You know peanut butter is just the thing to get it out. With a roll of duct tape for any emergency and lots of love, there's nothing you can't do for your kids.

And the duct tape line is the truth. Everything can be fixed with duct tape. My oldest daughter made a duct tape dress for her little sister for the fair. It would be great body armor. Very feminine body armor.

No pics of it right now. I had to get a new hard drive and the disk with the pictures (it really was a miracle that I got them off the old drive, the email was a different story) is somewhere upstairs so we will wait for now.

My completed shawl!

Ok, I guess I just got a bit obsessed and just couldn't quit knitting. I finished the shawl and now I am in the process of blocking it. My daughter thinks it turned out very well. It is always hard for me to be objective because I always see the flaws and mistakes in everything. But...I will wear this (some where) and be proud of it. I am also working on another one (I told you I get obsesssed!) in a KA dyed yarn. I am having loads of fun! I need to crochet around the neckline of a cardigan I am knitting for the 5yo so I can say that is finished.

I went to my first knitting class yesterday at the LYS. I never had gone to one before because I figure I am pretty good at picking up skills on my own, but I had an opportunity to go to a class taught by Anne Modesitt. She knows her stuff and is so personable. I will definitely go to another class taught by her!
