A Dry Spell

Hey, I had every intention of adding to my blog on the 3rd, Women's Heart Health Day, but I forgot. Hopefully all of you wore your red that day. Heart stuff can strike anyone at anytime. Mine was a congenital defect that should have been corrected YEARS ago. Statistically I should have had a stroke and died already because I have 5 children. My life expectancy was 40 years and I was 39 at the time. I know another lady that had a major heart attack at 38 and almosted needed a heart transplant. Take care of yourself and don't let some emergency room doctor tell you that you have asthma but the guy in the room next to you has the same symptoms as you get put in the hospital for observation for a heart attack. Been there, done that and fortunately lived to tell the tale!

Anyway, here is my fiber animal that I got under the guise of a 4H animal for my daughter. My husband DOES know the truth but goes along with me anyway. As you will be able to guess from my choice of fiber animal, we don't live in the country. This is as close as I can get in the 'hood. She is a 3 month old French Angora that just got her hair cut today. By the time the fair comes around, she should have a 4-5 inch coat. That will be such a blast to spin our own wool! We have not named her yet, but Dusk Bunny has been mentioned. I will let you know what the final verdict is. I am also "kind of" participating in the Yarn Olympics. I forgot to sign up but I am competing against myself to do the project. It isn't huge, but it is a technique I hadn't tried before. I am making the BackPack from the Domino Knitting book by Hoxbro. I am making the bag one square wider and I may make it one square taller as well. I have a hard time visualizing something, so I made a graph paper pattern that I numbered and can see how the bag should be knitted together square by square. I will post a progress report later so you can see how far I have progressed.

To be or not to be a yarn snob

I was reading someone's blog this morning and I found a really neat button to add. That blogger was saying almost all of us start out using "just" yarn, like our mom's did. The thing is, not all of us move up to the lys yarn. See I like to knit with my favorite new wool, but I can't afford to do that all the time. Also, I have all this yarn that I inherited and was gifted and I feel the need to use it up. So I am in a spot. How can I buy yarn from my LYS ($$) if I have all this yarn sitting in my yarn drawers that need to be used. So I haven't bought yarn for my sweater yet. The only yarn I allow myself to buy is the 2 skeins that is needed to make socks. Here is the button. It is my blue collar roots showing through. I have mad knitting skillz!
